NINGBO – Indonesian mixed doubles, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja , failed to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC). They lost to South Korean representatives, Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun. With this result, the ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics went to Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.

Taking place at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, China, Thursday (11/4/2024) evening WIB, Dejan/Gloria had difficulty keeping up with Kim/Jeong’s game. They also surrendered in two straight games with scores of 18-21 and 16-21.

This defeat also dashed Dejan/Gloria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is because they must be able to reach the BAC 2024 final to be able to win tickets to Paris.

Unfortunately Dejan/Gloria had to stop their progress in the round of 16. The points they currently have are unable to displace their colleagues Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari who are above them.

Therefore, this result also ensures that Rinov/Pitha secure a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics mathematically. Rinov/Pitha are the sixth Indonesian representatives from badminton who will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, in the match against Kim/Jeong, Dejan/Gloria tried to match the game of the seventh seed. However, in the first game Dejan/Gloria trailed 7-11.

After the interval, Dejan/Gloria showed resistance to Kim/Jeong. Both of them appeared never to give up even though they ended up losing 18-21 in the first game.

In the second game, Dejan/Gloria played under pressure again. Even though they have tried to get up, they often make a lot of their own mistakes. As a result they had to give up in the second game with a score of 16-21.
