It is estimated that for every 10 trucks available there is only one operator. David Montelongo Sánchez, president of the La Laguna Human Resources Association (ARHLA), mentioned that the issue is serious, which is why efforts have been made to train them in the companies themselves.
“Many have stopped being drivers due to a generational issue but many are going to the United States because there is also a shortage of truck operators therethen yes it is a problem, what we have to do in companies is train them,” he commented.
Lizbeth Vázquez Talamantes, advisor at ARHLA, recalled that a few years ago, there was a lack of technicians in machines and tools, which was a very important workforce and the companies that required them faced complications because there were no graduates from the technical schools, they do not graduate and the companies had to form.
“We had to create a small school among the companies that were interested in that workforce and become a teacher so that people could be trained, sell the idea, and in this case, we have no choice but to do that,” he commented, “Right now, the company that cannot provide emotional support to the collaborator is behind.then this has invited us, for some years now, to open our eyes and be at the same emotional frequency as in technical operations and so on.”
Montelongo Sánchez mentioned that it is an opportunity for the technical schools here in the region to create a career as a tractor-trailer operator, since there is only one study center on this subject in Gómez Palacio but it is not enough.
“So, what we have done in some companies is train our own operators,” he reiterated.
