Defeated by Viktor Axelsen, Anthony Ginting Fails to Reach Finals

The defeat means Ginting failed to make it to the final of the Super 500 tournament. However, Indonesia still has hope of securing a ticket to the men’s singles final through Jonatan Christie who will meet Lei Lan Xi of China in the final match today.

Playing at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Ginting was under pressure from Axelsen from the start of the match. His defense was easily penetrated by the world number one’s deadly smashes, leaving him trailing 1-7.

In addition, the world’s number 10 player also often made his own mistakes. As a result, Axelsen easily reached the first game interval with an 11-4 advantage.

After the break, Ginting still struggled to keep up with Axelsen’s attacking play. He fell further behind at 8-16.
