Madagascar was represented by Jean Lucien Romuald Andrianantenaina during the World Muay Thai Organization evening held in Mauritius on Friday. Facing a young local fighter, Steban Mangalon, the Malagasy suffered a defeat after an electric duel in the under 75 kg category. Romuald gave his best, but it was not enough against a professional who is used to international matches. Despite his age of 40 and a record of 27 fights including 18 victories, he showed courage and determination against Steban Mangalon, a younger opponent who is only 25 years old and with experience of 37 fights including 15 victories and 12 by knockout. The president of the Malagasy Muaythai Federation expressed his gratitude to all those who supported the Malagasy delegation during this international competition. “It is an important experience, and although defeat may be disappointing, it provides an opportunity for learning and growth for Malagasy fighters,” he notes.
