Thailand wants to explore for oil and gas in the deep sea of Bangladesh and supply LNG.
On Tuesday (April 9), the Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh, Makawadi Samitmar, met with the Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid, and expressed his interest.
This information was informed in a press release of the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources.
It said the Thai ambassador expressed interest in deep-sea oil, gas exploration and LNG supply. During the Prime Minister’s visit to Thailand, he requested for visible progress in this regard.
The state minister told the ambassador that Bangladesh will encourage all kinds of investment. We welcome the interest of Thailand’s PTT Global LNG Company Limited. We give preference to trading companies and producing companies in LNG supply.
Nasrul Hamid also said that the matter of signing a memorandum of understanding for increasing energy cooperation between Bangladesh and Thailand has progressed well. It is expected to be signed shortly. As energy cooperation increases, economic, industrial and social development will also progress.
