In a speech on the occasion, the representative of the Regional Directorate of the Culture Sector in the Oriental Region, Khaled Brada, said that this event evokes the cultural dimension and diversity as an important element in any development project that seeks to achieve the well-being of society, pointing to its importance in preserving the intangible cultural heritage, especially in its folklore aspect, as well as the Amazigh heritage of the region, in addition to its role in reviving the authentic customs and traditions of the people of this historical region.
For his part, the President of the “Ain Seville Association for Popular Arts”, Ali Hamdaoui, highlighted the importance of this festival, which seeks to contribute to introducing Amazigh culture and art, encouraging practicing and amateur musicians, supporting artistic creativity in general and music and popular arts in particular, as well as introducing the heritage and tourism qualifications of the Debdou region, and revitalizing it culturally and artistically.
Hamdaoui explained, in a press statement, that this event comes within the framework of the Moroccan people’s celebrations of the anniversary of the King and People’s Revolution, which is an occasion to recall the meanings of a renewed national revolution to build and raise the nation’s edifices and preserve its territorial integrity, as well as the National Day of the Immigrant, as it is an occasion to strengthen the Moroccan community’s connection to its authentic Moroccan civilization and culture.
The opening ceremony was distinguished by honoring a group of local and national figures and members of the Moroccan community residing abroad, who left their mark on important experiences in the cultural, artistic and sports fields, and presenting musical performances and heritage art panels, with the participation of a group of artistic groups coming from several regions such as Sefrou, Taza and Azrou.
