Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, regarding the ongoing damage assessment studies after the agricultural frost, said, “Hopefully, we will see the completion of the works in TARSİM within 10 days. Their damages will be paid in June and July.” he said.
Minister Yumaklı attended the seed distribution ceremony held in the garden of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry within the scope of the Project for Enabling the Use of Agricultural Lands (TAKE).
Speaking here, Yumaklı said that apples and apricots were mostly affected by the agricultural frost event that occurred throughout the country at the beginning of last month in Yeşilhisar, Yahyalı, Develi and İncesu districts.
Stating that TARSİM’s damage assessment studies are continuing in all provinces, Yumaklı said, “Hopefully, we will see the completion of the works in TARSİM within 10 days. Their damages will be paid in June and July. For our non-insured producers, we will also cover the expenses of our producers registered with ÇKS until the frost occurs. Depending on the damage rates, we will have completed these works in a short time.” he said.
Minister Yumaklı emphasized that they have invested 100 billion lira in the fields of agriculture, forestry and water in Kayseri in the last 23 years, and 67.3 billion lira of this was allocated to water and irrigation investments.
Reminding that 32 products produced in Kayseri are geographically indicated, Yumaklı stated that plant production increased 3.5 times, milk production increased 3 times, and the agricultural product of the city increased 43 times in 23 years.
Kocasinan Geothermal Greenhouse Organized Agricultural Zone works
Giving information about the latest situation of Kocasinan Geothermal Heated Greenhouse Organized Agricultural Zone (OTB), which is important not only for Kayseri but also for the region and Türkiye, Yumaklı said:
“The general layout plan, superstructure module projects and zoning plans of our OTB have been approved. 2 geothermal wells have been opened by Mineral Research and Exploration, and the drilling of the third well is continuing. In March, we made a proposal to our Presidency of Strategy and Budget to be included in the 2025 investment program. When its approval comes soon, it will be an important turning point for Kayseri. Our goal is to start these infrastructure works in the second half of the year. Our OTB, which has a production capacity of 35 thousand tons, will employ 1500 people, 75 percent of whom will be women, when it becomes fully operational. We foresee a budget of 5 billion lira for the entire project. “When it is completely completed, 2 billion lira of annual income will be generated for our economy from Kayseri.”
“Türkiye exports seeds to 103 countries”
Minister Yumaklı stated that the seed issue is one of the issues most exposed to disinformation in Türkiye.
Emphasizing that seed growing is extremely important for food supply security, Yumaklı continued as follows:
“I emphasize that with the studies carried out in the field of seed in the last 23 years, Türkiye is one of the authoritative countries in the world in the field of seed and is among the top 10 countries. Our certified seed production has reached 1.3 million tons as of today. We produce 96 percent of the certified seed we need domestically. Turkey exports seeds to 103 countries. As the figures reveal, Türkiye is a clear exporter in seed.”
Referring to the TAKE project, Yumaklı said, “1.3 billion liras of resources have been allocated to the project in the last 4 years. We have enabled 408 thousand farmers to benefit from the project. In this way, success has been achieved in not leaving an area of 7 million decares empty. In 2025, we will ensure that 100 thousand farmers benefit from the project by transferring approximately 680 million liras of resources to the project. In this regard, we will contribute to the production of strategic products in an area of 1.4 million decares. in Kayseri It is one of the provinces that benefit effectively from this project. This year, we will contribute to increasing the planting of beans, chickpeas, green lentils, safflower and sorrel seeds in the region. “I would like to point out that we donate between 50 and 75 percent of these seeds.” he said.
AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş said that Türkiye is now a country that has broken its shell, gotten rid of its shackles and become a global power.
Evaluating the goal of a terror-free Türkiye, Elitaş said:
“Today, as the People’s Alliance, we have put our full effort into our goal of a Terror-Free Turkey. Thank God, we will build a Türkiye where there is peace and prosperity together, with the terrorist organization laying down its weapons unconditionally and dissolving itself on May 12.” he said.
AK Party Kayseri Deputy Bayar Özsoy and Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Bülent Saklav also made speeches at the ceremony.
After the speeches, seed vouchers were given to 16 farmers from 16 districts.
Minister Yumaklı also visited Kayseri Governorship, Metropolitan Municipality and AK Party Provincial Directorate within the scope of his programs in the city.
Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç thanked Minister Yumaklı by mentioning the support they provided in the field of agriculture and livestock during the visit.
Yumaklı then visited Ağırnas Women’s Cooperative and made stuffed safflower.
