Clube Desportivo 1º D’Agosto qualified today, Sunday, for the group stage of the African Champions League, after eliminating the Zambians from Green Ealgles, with a 2-2 aggregate score over both legs.
In the second leg, in a game played in Luanda, D’Agosto did not go beyond a defeat due to an unanswered ball, but benefited from the 2-1 victory, achieved in the first leg at their opponent’s home, two weeks ago.
The Zambians took the lead in the first half, but the military managed to hold on to the result until the end of the game, with the opponent needing one more goal to advance to the group stage of the competition.
The capital’s Military club returns to the group stage of the Champions League after failing to qualify for the competition last season.
Two seasons ago, in its last participation, 1º D’Agosto reached the semi-finals of the competition, where it was eliminated by Esperance de Tunís from Tunisia.
