MG is preparing to launch a new subcompact sedan, a model that could compete directly with the Dacia Sandero. The new MG3 could also offer a full hybrid engine.
The new generation of the MG3 subcompact sedan will make its official debut on February 26 at the Geneva Motor Show. The imminent launch of the new model was confirmed by the manufacturer on social networks, where we also received some teasers with the new model.
The future MG3 borrows design cues from the manufacturer’s high-end cars, so we can see similar elements to what we can see on the MG5 or MG7.
The front features an aggressive and sharp bar with slim headlights. There is a single large grill, flanked by two elements that look like two fangs. In profile, the car appears more muscular than before, with more defined lines. The rear is characterized by two horizontal lights, which give the car a rather conventional appearance compared to models such as the MG4.
The new MG3 could be a rival to the Dacia Sandero
The future MG3 will also be sold on the European market. Since MG recently entered the Romanian market, we can expect the new model of the British brand owned by the Chinese SAIC to arrive in our country too. This would place it in the segment of the Dacia Sandero, both subcompact models. Given MG’s economical approach, Dacia may have a new competitor for the popular Sandero model.
According to Cascoops, the MG3 will feature a full hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.5-liter petrol engine, a single electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The MG3 is expected to go on sale in Europe, the UK and the Asia-Pacific regions shortly after its debut in Geneva. It’s safe to assume that the model will maintain a competitive price like its predecessor.
