The Sziget festival is one of the largest and most prestigious European music events. The great news is that, in addition to world stars such as Arctic Monkeys, Dua Lipa, Kings of Leon, Justin Bieber, Tame Impala, Bastille, the program also includes representatives of the Czech scene.
This year, the popular pop singer Lenny is heading to the island in the middle of Budapest. But Sziget is not only about music, and the awarding of dancers Viktor Černický and the duo Mr. Kriss & Marson, featuring the globally acclaimed Kristián Mensa, known as Mr. Kriss, with her brother Marson. In addition to the Europe Stage program, Sziget also completely filled the Ticket Swap Arena program.
Lenny na ibis x ALL Europe Stage
This year too, Sziget is preparing the well-known Europe stage, featuring interesting artists who are heading to the top of the music charts.
Among the many talents, the Czech singer Lenny will also appear, who will perform on Friday 12 August and does not hide her enthusiasm for being included in the program: “With the band, we have already performed at major Czech festivals and played for tens of thousands of listeners at events in Italy, but at Sziget it will be our first time this year. I am happy that I will be able to get to know this festival both from the stage as a performer and as a spectator. I don’t want to miss Kings Of Leon and Justin Bieber. During our performance, we plan to play some new releases from the upcoming album, and I’m really looking forward to the unique atmosphere that awaits us at Sziget.” On the Europe stage, SYML (USA), cleopatrick (CAN), Shelter Boy (D), Nova Twins (UK), French79 (F) and many more.
However, the Hungarian Sziget festival is not only about music, and this is confirmed by a wide selection of dance and theater performances or a new circus. Among the star-studded program are the names of Czech and Slovak dancers. One of the dancing stars of the festival will be the renowned Czech dancer Mr. Kriss, who with his brother and dance partner Marson will bring to the festival a Breaking Jazz performance combining elements of breakdance and jazz music. “We were originally preparing the show for a theatrical release in France, for the audience at Sziget we plan to play with the rhythm and dynamics of the performance so that there is a strong element of surprise and unpredictability in it. We are looking forward to FKJ, Jungle or BADBADNOTGOOD from the Sziget program,” said Kristián Mensa, aka Mr. Chris.
Viktor Černický, a native of Trenčín and a graduate of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, will present his original work PLI at Sziget, in which he performs alone with 22 conference chairs. Černický was awarded the Main Prize of the Czech Dance Platform for his performance and attracted attention abroad with his unique concept of modern dance.
A new circus has also been associated with Sziget for many years. Stage Cirque du Sziget, which holds up to a thousand visitors, will present breathtaking performances by leading circus companies from around the world on the Island of Freedom. They will be led, for example, by Cirque la Compagnie, Compagnie Cabas from France or the Canadian Barcode Circus Company.
A complete program of electronic scenes
After the previously announced program of the Colosseum stage, which will create a unique 360° podium for electronic music this year, the organizers have now published the complete program of the TicketSwap Dance Arena, where the most interesting names of the current electro scene will perform. The huge party tent, curated by Elrow, Q-Dance and other European promoter groups, aims with its program and unique visuals to become the most visited stage for all fans of techno, trance house and EDM on Sziget. During the festival, for example, Alan Walker will perform on stage with his hit Faded, or Steve Aoki, a longtime standout of dance and house music, who has collaborated with stars such as Linkin Park, Iggy Azalea, and Fall Out Boy during his career.
