Cuban President Condemns Israeli Brutal Bombardment of Gaza – Al-Baath Media

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned in the strongest terms the brutal bombing carried out by the Israeli occupation entity on the Gaza Strip, killing its people and destroying their homes, hospitals and civilian infrastructure.

In a televised speech broadcast by the Cuban presidency today, Diaz-Canel stressed that nothing can justify what the Israeli occupation forces are doing in Gaza, and nothing can justify the serious violations of international humanitarian law they are committing.

The Cuban president pointed out that the US veto of a proposal that simply called for a humanitarian truce in Gaza in order to allow aid to reach it was not surprising because Washington had historically played the role of an accomplice to Zionist barbarism by repeatedly obstructing the Security Council’s work regarding Palestine.

“Every moment of inaction and passivity will cost more innocent lives, so we must act immediately and contribute to international efforts to end this brutality. History will not forgive the indifferent, and we will not be one of them,” Diaz-Canel said.

Diaz-Canel stressed the rejection of any selectivity that seeks to ignore the danger of genocide being practiced today against the Palestinians and to portray the Israeli side as the victim, and to ignore 75 years of aggression, occupation, violations and exclusion against the Palestinian people.

Diaz-Canel stressed that “Israel” violates all UN resolutions and all its obligations as an occupying power under the Fourth Geneva Convention, considering that the Security Council’s paralysis on this issue will ensure its continued evasion of responsibilities.

The Cuban president said, “A comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the conflict inevitably requires the genuine exercise of the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
