In 2022, Cuba joined the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund, the Commissions on the Legal and Social Status of Women and on Science and Technology for Development, as well as the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations.

Precisely in March, the Cuban regime rejected 31 recommendations of the Human Rights Council, issued by more than 15 countries.

Among the rejected proposals are the release of political prisoners, guaranteeing medical care to imprisoned opponents or ending arbitrary detentions.

The observations were made in the context of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the UN Human Rights Council.

Countries such as New Zealand, Germany and Lithuania urged the Cuban government to release political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, and others called for transparent judicial processes and the end of the one-party system.
