ŞARA HAD CONTACTS
On the other hand, during his visit to Washington, Shara also met with Brian Mast, one of the important figures of the US Congress.
The meeting between Republican Mast, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, and Shara, who played an important role in lifting sanctions on Syria, took place in the Congress building.
The shot of Şara and Mast posing side by side was first shared by Syrian human rights defender Jasmine Naamou on the X account.
WHAT ARE CAESAR SANCTIONS?
Caesar sanctions, which the USA began to impose against Syria in 2019, included heavy economic sanctions against Syria’s deposed leader Bashar Assad and people and institutions affiliated with him. While sanctions require Congressional approval to be completely lifted, the US President is allowed to suspend sanctions on national security grounds.
