Mystery surrounds a mutilated leg found over the weekend on the tracks of the New York City 4 subway line. The police of the megalopolis have launched an investigation to locate the corpse to which the macabre find belongs, as well as how it was found there.
Around noon Saturday, police received a call that human remains were found on the side of the 4 tracks in the Bronx. When they arrived at the scene they saw a foot, police said in their statement.
Authorities have not released further details about the case, which they are already investigating. In fact, it is still unknown whether it belongs to a man or a woman, while the macabre find is being examined by a medical examiner.
Crime is common in the New York subway
In the labyrinthine network of the subway of New York there are occasionally dramatic events that in recent years have taken on great proportions in the media, such as those of passengers pushed onto the tracks by criminals.
Last week, a 34-year-old man was killed and five others were wounded in a shooting on a platform at another Bronx station.
