Court decides whether to overthrow or ratify sentence against Aída Victoria Merlano

Last Tuesday, March 19, the Superior Court of Bogotá announced its ruling in the second instance on the criminal process against Aída Victoria Merlanodaughter of Senator Aida Merlano Robledo, who faces a seven-year prison sentence.

The influencer must respond to justice for the crimes of facilitating escape and using minors to commit crimes, charges imposed in September 2022.

In this instance, it will be defined if sentence of the Barranquilla influencer is maintained or canceled.

This decision came after Merlano filed an appeal, which led the Superior Court of Bogotá to prepare to communicate its second instance decision.

In accordance with the provisions, the Barranquilla businesswoman must also appear in court next Thursday, March 21 at 8:45 a.m.where the magistrate’s decision will be known on whether the conviction for the crimes of facilitating escape and use of minors to commit crimes is maintained or revoked.

If the magistrate upholds the sentence, the process will go to the Supreme Court of Justice for review in cassation.
