Graz (OTS) – The AK market research carried out a price and performance check in terms of bicycle service at a total of 31 companies, 11 of them in Graz. Compared to the previous year, the increase in prices is also noticeable here: the prices for the “small service” amount to an average increase of 5.60 percent, for the “large service” to 3.72 percent and for the hourly service to 3.31 percent.
A “minor service” usually includes checking the lighting system and tire pressure, adjusting the brakes and gears. The handlebars and gearbox are also adjusted. The price comparison shows: In Graz you pay between 20 and 79.99 euros, outside of Graz between 39 and 79.99 euros.
During a “major service” the front and rear wheels are also centered, the gearbox and hubs are serviced, the bearings are cleaned, the screws are tightened, all wearing parts are checked and the brakes are bled. The price range across Styria is between 39 and 139.99 euros. The costs for any spare parts are not included.
E-Bike-Service
The price range for an e-bike service is between 39 and 120 euros. What is important here is whether the software update is included in the price. An update alone costs up to 40 euros, but is also offered free of charge.
Fixed prices and working hours
Most companies offer small or large services at a flat rate. Any work beyond this is often charged based on the time required: an hour costs between around 55 and 100 euros. Many workshops charge fixed rates for certain work: from 6 to 25 euros for a jacket and hose assembly, a chain change costs between 10 and 18 euros, the assembly of a child seat or luggage rack costs up to 30 or 31.99 euros, but it also costs offered free of charge. “It pays to question the scope of services carefully and compare the offers and prices,” says Andrea Büdenbender from AK market research.
