Despite all the difficulties, Corsicans continue to fight for the freedom of their country. “Nazione” Party, newly created in the country, gathered more than 600 activists from the very first day. The fact that the party was so successful from the first day faced the wrath of the French government. The French government could not digest this success of the political party and showed it by attacking the houses of the activists and repressing them.
Two days after the first meeting of the assembly of the new party, the “Nazione” Party held a press conference in Bastia to protest against the very brutal and merciless repression of the French police.
Publika.az reports that the members and the spokesperson of the party spoke at the conference and strongly condemned the repression caused by the French police in recent days. They demanded the immediate release of two Nazione activists arrested by the police and sent to Paris. Also, during the visit of the Minister of Internal Affairs J. Darmani to Corsica, they called all Corsicans to protest.
Just two days after the first meeting of the general assembly of the “Nazione” Party, the French state responded to the success of this new political initiative with another wave of repression, arresting two of our activists and members of our national coordination, Anto Simoni and Nicolas Pinzuti.
This despicable police operation at the behest of the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) clearly reflects the will to deliberately harass our activists and their families. Thus, their houses were attacked, their doors were destroyed with explosives, their fathers were arrested in front of their children, their houses were vandalized, their toys were deliberately broken in front of the children, and two activists who were honest and respected in their political and professional obligations were arbitrarily sent to Paris.
Today, “Nazione” condemns these deplorable and unacceptable practices against peaceful people, worthy of the worst authoritarian regimes,” the party members declared in front of the local and foreign press.
It was stated that the place of their activists is in the land of Corsica among their families, in their workplaces and in the field of struggle for the survival of their country. They need to be released.
“The sole purpose of this new aggression against the national liberation movement is to try to stop the great popular movement that was created by the creation of Nazione and to silence its political will.
French political leaders and some politicians in Corsica will dismiss any political motive for these calls, once again relying on the power factor. We reiterate that it is a “myth” to say that the political and judicial authorities are independent in the “Corsica affairs” and that the arrests on Tuesday were carried out by the political police on the orders of the political judiciary.
Indeed, the process is now known and has become very crude: every initiative of the independence movement is mechanically met with repression.
It is no coincidence that these repressive operations coincide with the announcement of the arrival of the Minister of Internal Affairs J. Darmani next week. This step of the French police is part of the policy of neutralizing the only political trend fighting for the independence of Corsica. Our political struggle is based on the resolute defense of the interests of Corsica and Corsicans,” said the spokesperson of the political party.
It was noted that hundreds of “Nazione” activists confirmed once again that the party’s political movement is always the main actor in favor of a real political solution and real peace in the country in the voting on the general direction of the party’s political movement. However, the search for a political solution that brings peace never means abandoning all the demands that are fundamental to the future of the Corsican people.
“Repression can never silence our national struggle or make us surrender. “Nazione” will continue to popularize its political project by bringing together all the Corsicans who agree with our policy in the coming days”, the party members pointed out that they will intensify their activities in the coming days.
At the end of the conference, “Nazione” activists, due to the visit of the Minister of Interior J. Darmani to Corsica next week, “For the rights of the Corsican people!” End the repression! Long live the nation!” they called for a protest demonstration with their slogans.
In the end, the party members said that the raid of 18 masked French policemen on the house of the activists of “Nazione” is unacceptable again. Saying that this is the last limit of repression, they pointed out that France, which considers itself to be a legal state and the cradle of human rights, is actually not democratic, but dictatorial. They noted that such a situation is possible only in an authoritarian regime. However, all these repressions will not be able to break the will of the Corsicans and they will continue to fight for their freedom.
