Los Angeles: ‘American Fiction’ is up for the 2024 Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film won awards over ‘Barbie’, ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Poor Things’ and ‘The Zone of Interest’ at the 96th Academy Awards being held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
The Academy shared a post on Twitter, which they captioned, “‘American Fiction’ takes home the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay! Congratulations, Cord Jefferson!” The awards ceremony is being streamed live on OTT platform Disney+Hotstar.
Cord Jefferson’s feature directorial debut, ‘American Fiction’ is based on Percival Everett’s 2001 novel “Eraser.” It is a sharp satire on the treatment of black stories in the publishing industry.
The film stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Erica Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Sterling K., alongside Jeffrey Wright. Brown, Myra Lucretia Taylor, John Ortiz, Issa Rae and Adam Brody. Nominated actors include big names like Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper and Robert Downey Jr. (ANI)
