Cooperation with Africa is a royal priority

Abdel Samad Qayyouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, confirmed today, Saturday, Istanbul, that Morocco, under the visionary leadership of King Mohammed VI, made African cooperation a major axis in its foreign policy and developmental model.

In his intervention during a high -level session, it was organized under the title “The launch of the capabilities of Africa in the field of linking”, within the framework of the World Transport Forum, that the Kingdom believes that Africa is required to be a lady of its destiny, and is able to build actual continental integration based on a strong infrastructure, a common political will and a unified strategic vision.

The minister added that strengthening continental linking constitutes a strategic lever to achieve this common African ambition, recording that Morocco puts at the center of its priorities structural projects aimed at accelerating the African integration and removing isolation from the non -coastal areas.

In this context, the government official highlighted that the Atlantic Port of Dakhla embodies this ambitious trend, as part of the Atlantic Royal Initiative launched by the king in order to enhance the access of the coast countries to the Atlantic Ocean, noting that this strategic infrastructure will constitute an effective tool for linking sub -Saharan Africa to the Atlantic field and enhancing the openness of the coast countries to the world.

Qayyuh also evoked the lofty message that King Mohammed VI addressed to the participants in the “Africa for the Ocean” summit, recently held in Nice as part of the third United Nations Oceanic Conference, followed by Princess Lalla Hasna, representative of King Mohammed VI, which drew features of a new naval vision for Africa, is based on promoting blue growth as a group of sustainable development and expanding southern-south and regional integration centered on Marine spaces.

Abdel Samad Qayyouh added that this integrated royal vision is also reflected in Morocco’s commitment to developing a national commercial fleet, not only to expand its capabilities in the field of transportation; Rather, to build an integrated naval system based on joint investments and regular connection between African ports.

Speaking of the challenges facing the continent, the Minister of Transport and Logistics indicated that the weak infrastructure, multiple regulatory constraints, poor coordination and lack of financing are still limiting Africa’s ability to achieve real integration.

The same government official stressed the need to activate the continental free exchange area, establish multimedia transport corridors, unify standards, and enhance financing capabilities to support cross -border logistical projects.

In this context, Qayyouh stressed that Morocco is working to develop an effective regional logistical platform, through major strategic projects; Like the Tangier Mediterranean Port, Nador West Mediterranean, Atlantic Dakhla, and the future Tantan port, making the Kingdom a pivotal link between Africa and the rest of the world.

He pointed out that this dynamism also intersects with the national strategy for energy transition, as Morocco seeks to position as a regional center for the production and distribution of green hydrogen, relying on its advanced port structures to provide clean fuel for ships, contributing to the removal of carbon from maritime transport, and enhancing the attractiveness of Moroccan ports as green logistical centers at the regional and continental levels.

The minister also stressed that these infrastructure will not play its full role except within the framework of an integrated continental vision, calling for investing in African human capital, strengthening regional value chains, and encouraging innovation in the field of logistics.
