The Supreme Council of the Judicial Authority of the Kingdom of Morocco, represented by the President-Delegate of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Authority, Mohamed Abdel Nabawi, and the Judicial Authority of the Republic of Peru, represented by the President of the Judicial Authority and the Supreme Court of Peru, Javier Arevalo Villa, signed, on Monday, a memorandum of understanding to define the general framework for demarcating cooperation and coordination. This came during a reception given by Mohamed Abdel Nabawi, First President of the Court of Cassation and President-Delegate of the Supreme Judicial Council, to a high-level delegation, led by Javier Arevalo Villa, President of the Judicial Authority and Supreme Court of the Republic of Peru, within the framework of a working visit that led it to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The memorandum stipulated the implementation of mutual obligations and tasks between the two sides in areas related to their competencies, strengthening management and coordination mechanisms, and strengthening bilateral international cooperation through exchanging experiences on judicial issues through organizing conferences, study days, seminars, and bilateral or multilateral forums, on topics of common interest, and enhancing cooperation. Between the judicial authority in the Kingdom of Morocco and the judicial authority in the Republic of Peru.

The same document included an agreement to provide mutual support and develop coordination procedures and strategies to combat cross-border crimes, cybercrimes, crimes committed against vulnerable persons, electronic procedures, specialized courts in flagrante delicto, and other common interests, and organize mutual visits and high-level training courses in the judicial field. In order to exchange experiences to enhance judicial administration, and to enhance technical cooperation in the administrative and financial field to benefit from experiences and best practices in this field.

The two sides also agreed to exchange experiences on the activities of various judicial bodies and judicial inspection bodies and the independence of supreme courts, and to exchange delegations and hold consultations on current legal issues and judicial problems of common interest, and to be inspired by best practices in the field of legal vigilance through the exchange of publications related to judicial procedures and whatever arises therefrom. The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Supreme Council of the Judicial Authority of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Judicial Authority of the Republic of Peru comes within the context of the policy of constructive international cooperation led by King Mohammed VI, out of a desire for openness to different judicial systems, and to introduce the Moroccan experience in the field of the independence of the judiciary, which was achieved thanks to the royal will.

It is worth noting that the signing of the agreement falls within the framework of strengthening judicial relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Peru, based on the constitutional roles assigned to the judicial authority in the two countries, which make the judiciary a guarantor of rights and freedoms.
