Conversation with Peruvian writer Karina Pacheco Medrano

  • Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, Bandera 361, Plaza de Armas Metro Station.
  • Wednesday, September 25 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Free admission with prior registration HERE.

The Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art invites you to the Café Precolombino for a new edition of American Futures, a series of dialogues with creators and thinkers who explore the challenges and possible futures of America.

This time, Karina Pacheco Medrano (Cusco, Peru) will be there. She is a writer, anthropologist and editor whose work revolves between narrative, history and anthropology, and who in 2022 won the Peruvian National Literature Prize for her novel “El año del viento” (The Year of the Wind).

Throughout the conversation – which will be moderated by Claudio Alvarado Lincopi – the deep history of Cusco, which dates back centuries before the arrival of the Spanish, will be addressed. It will also analyze how the colonial footprint still throbs in the Andes, in its tensions and creations. Likewise, the present of Cusco will be discussed, between touristification and the desires of a boiling Andean mountain range.
