This Friday afternoon, a new forest fire has put the inhabitants of the Casablanca commune on alert, located in the Valparaíso Region, Chile. The incident has been reported in the Lo Ovalle sector, near the Lo Vásquez Sanctuary.
According to the first reports received, the flames have consumed vast expanses of vegetation in this rural area, generating an emergency situation. Social media users have shared shocking images and videos that show the magnitude of the fire and the effort of the response teams.
Due to the incident, the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) declared a provincial red alert for Valparaíso.
Nine brigades, a tanker truck, an Aero Tanker plane, five tanker planes and a helicopter, in addition to the community’s firefighters, have been deployed to combat the flames.
