“The passing of our legendary president Şamil Ekinci, one of the architects of our club’s brightest days, deeply saddened us as well as our entire community. Şamil Ekinci, who came from Kırşehir and settled in Trabzon and continued his life as a businessman here, is the most concrete proof that Trabzonspor is not just a city team, but a chain of love and loyalty that spreads all over Turkey. Ekinci, who first became a manager and then a president in our club in 1969 and successfully carried out these duties for many years, was a value that always carried Trabzonspor in his heart after his managerial career. Şamil Ekinci played an important role in our club’s opening to Europe with his gentlemanliness, devotion, dignity and vision. With his vision and mission, Trabzonspor did not only achieve national successes, but also made a name for itself in the international arena. He was our very valuable legendary president who made us dream and made our dreams come true. As I have stated before, in my opinion, Şamil Ekinci was more of a Trabzonspor fan than the best Trabzonspor fans, including myself. He was someone who adopted the city of Trabzon, lived with it and connected his life with this city and club. Trabzonspor is a club that reflects the spirit of not only Trabzon or the Black Sea Region, but also Anatolia. Şamil Ekinci was one of the most important representatives of this Anatolian spirit in our club. His legacy and the traces he left will always be remembered and kept alive in the history of Trabzonspor. Now we will build a future rooted in the past so that Chairman Şamil and our other values ​​who made great sacrifices for this club can rest in peace. I wish God’s mercy on Chairman Şamil Ekinci and my condolences to his grieving family and community.
