Comptroller’s Office: Petroperú suffered losses of more than S/ 3.6 million

The Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) reported that a economic damage valued at a total of 3,615,091 soles in Petroperuaccording to the results of three control reports posterior.

These losses were reportedly caused by deficiencies in the management of various services acquired by the oil companywhich led to the identification of alleged civil and/or administrative liability in eight officials from Petroperú.

The subsequent control reports specified that the possible damages in Petroperú were recorded in the regions of Loreto, Piura and Pucallpa, due to excesses in the budgets, improper payments, negligent actions, overpayments of taxesrisks related to a booth and collapse of structures.

The control report N° 020-2024-2-0084which covers the period of April 2016 to September 2018indicates that as part of the maintenance and protection work of the riverside area at Station 1 of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline in Loreto, Petroperú hired services for the restoration of the riverbank in the area of ​​the fire pump house of said station, as well as for the filling of sand. These services had a cost of 1 million 920,803 soles and 593,273 solesrespectively.

After two months since the receipt and approval of both services by the state company, the July 4, 2018, The metal structure collapsed into the river, resulting in the loss of filler material and generating an estimated economic loss for the state oil company of approximately S/2,514,076.61.

After the incident, the control commission carried out an inspection at the site and observed that to date, The metal structure does not fulfill its containment function and is submerged under the water level of the Marañón River, where it was originally placed.

In addition, it was verified that the erosion process on the river bank continues, which represents a risk to the fire system boothsince it is only supported by some piles.
