In its development, Iran and Israel continue to strengthen their military capabilities. Not only soldiers, this also applies to weapons equipment, including air defense systems.
As is known, both Iran and Israel have sophisticated and capable air defense systems. This defense tool is usually used to ward off various air threats that may enter each region. When compared between the two countries, which one is more sophisticated?
Iranian vs Israeli Air Defense Systems
1. Iran
Historically, Iran has mostly developed its own weapons locally. This is due to its closed status and often receives sanctions from the international community.
However, this does not mean that Iran does not have capable weapons. In preventing air attacks, Tehran is also equipped with various sophisticated defense systems.
– Bavarian-373
One that Iran operates is the Bavar-373. Entering service around 2019, its radar detection range has been increased from 350 km (217 miles) to 450 km (280 miles).
Quoting Al Jazeera, the missile is claimed to be capable of locking on targets, including long-range ballistic missiles, drones and stealth fighter jets. Apart from that, its ability can also track 60 targets and attack six targets simultaneously.
-S-300
Then, Iran also has the S-300 system. First operated by the Soviet Union in the late 1970s, the device was designed to shoot down approaching aircraft, drones and cruise and ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 150 km (93 miles).
-Arman
Apart from that, there are also various medium-range defense systems such as Arman. Unveiled in November 2022, this missile is designed to combat tactical ballistic weapons on battlefields at ranges of less than 300 km.
In its equipment, the Arman system is equipped with missiles to counter precision guided bunker buster munitions. This weapon is suitable for destroying fortified or underground buildings.
Apart from medium range, there is also a short range air defense system that Iran has. Call them Azarakhsh, Majid and Zoubin.
2. Israel
When Iran launched air attacks using hundreds of drones and missiles, Israel claimed success in repelling 99 percent of them. This happened thanks to the capabilities of the Jewish state’s air defense system.
