Companies will encourage participation in polling stations

In addition to promoting voting in these elections, some companies will encourage workers to participate in the June 2 event as poll workers, since the main reason why citizens decline is problems with their employment.

José Luis Vázquez López, executive member of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in Coahuila, said that agreements have been signed with different companies, as was the case this Thursday with Farmacias Klyns and with the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) Laguna, The aim is to motivate workers from their workplace, so that they do not lose attendance or productivity bonuses and, on the contrary, receive benefits for fulfilling this civic responsibility.

“We are asking companies to provide facilities to polling station officials in their workplace, that is what we are asking of business chambers,” he said.

In the case of the pharmacy, Cuitláhuac Pérez, director of human capital, mentioned that an incentive package is managed for its employees who were drawn as polling station officials, which includes electronic money, paid leave to attend prior training. and on election day, as well as a special recognition as a Citizen of Excellence.

He indicated that commitments will soon be signed with 40 institutions throughout the state to continue the push for the citizen participation program, both universities and philanthropies, companies, among others, all aimed at getting more people to the polls on June 2. , since it is estimated that 6 of every Coahuila resident exercises this right and we seek to increase this figure.

He mentioned that Coahuila was the first national place in terms of the integration of polling station boards for the electoral process, although he recognized that there are places where it has been complicated, such as in the Central area of Torreón, where people no longer have their residence, but on their voting credentials they still maintain that address; Likewise, in some residential sectors where there are security measures that limit access, so it is not possible to enter easily.

“With all these obstacles, the INE managed to make available a group of citizens who will end up joining the polls on June 2,” he said, “we have the appropriate number to make the appointments, we already did it, we are returning to the homes to hand them over.”

He said that during April and May citizens will be called to participate in training processes but as simulations, so that they know directly what their activities will be on election day.
