Companies demand new digital skills

The massification of artificial intelligence is causing companies in Mexico to require personnel with new digital skills, which represents a challenge for the population and the educational sector.

“Artificial intelligence has changed us a lot and it is a technology that has helped us a lot, but people need to prepare so as not to be left behind,” warned the president of the Council and Founding Partner of the International University of Innovation, Alejandro de the cross.

In interview with Excelsiordetailed that companies in Mexico that are already using artificial intelligence can have an increase in productivity close to 40%, while in the United States said growth is close to 60 percent.

The above also means an impact on the economy, as evidenced by the fact that the consulting firm PwC predicts that artificial intelligence will generate close to 15 trillion dollars to the global economy by 2030.

De la Cruz considered that, to take advantage of this opportunity, changes need to be made in the educational system and culturally promote continuous learning.

The above is because, in his opinion, traditional universities are currently not graduating young people with the skills they require for the real world because the study plans cannot adapt to rapid technological change.

Talent is urgently needed

Proof of this is that, currently, the International University of Innovation is one of the first institutions to have a degree in data engineering and artificial intelligence.

To which are added other careers that can boost the country such as aerospace engineering and space exploration, which focuses on developing, designing and certifying all the products and systems required by this industry that is growing in the Bajío area.

Without forgetting other careers that have potential such as financial engineering, strategic marketing, business creation and management, and artificial intelligence law.

For De la Cruz, this type of career can offer young people the correct tools to compete in the labor market and help the country in the future.

We believe that education, as such, is the watershed that will help young people so that, on the one hand, they are not part of the ranks of organized crime and, on the other, that the knowledge they generate with the mind-fact They can export it to other countries quickly,” he confided.

Added to this is the need for current employees to start taking courses that allow them to take advantage of new artificial intelligence tools, such as Microsoft’s co-pilots or OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Some studies have also shed light on other labor market needs as cybersecurity experts; specialists in Data Science and Business Intelligence; experience and user interface (UX/UI) experts; digital marketing, among others.

Without forgetting, soft skills such as knowing how to work as a team, critical thinking, resilience, leadership, creativity, among others.
