Community clinics should be activated to reach the grassroots health care – 2024-05-04 05:30:08

If you want to provide health care to the grassroots people of the country, the community clinic and upazila health complex should be activated, said Health Minister Professor Dr. Samant Lal Sen.

He said this on the occasion of the ‘National Health and Welfare Day’ and the 53rd founding anniversary of the Directorate of Health at Mohakhali in the capital on Thursday (May 2) morning.

The health minister said, if the health department is active, then we can definitely improve the health care. After becoming a minister, in every place that I have visited, the contribution of the Department of Health is the highest. If we want to provide health care to the grassroots people, then community clinics and upazila health complexes must be made operational. Only then we can improve the health system of this country.

New challenges are constantly coming in health care and we have to move forward by facing them, said the secretary of the health service department. Jahangir Alam.

He said, working to take healthcare to the marginal level. Efforts are being made to increase the personal facilities of doctors to improve the quality of service.

At that time, Makhduma Nargis, project director and former secretary of Rehabilitation of Community Healthcare Initiative, Bangladesh (RCHCIB) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said that doctors are a part of society. There has been a lot of development in the country in terms of infrastructure. Looking at psychological development, we will be somewhat disappointed. Corruption in the society and other diseases that are affecting us are holding back our forward journey. If we cannot improve on these, then we cannot go very far with infrastructure development.
