Now that the candidacies of the Chamber parties are considered secure, the small parties have now started to announce their lists for the European elections. On Thursday first Déi Conservative – on Friday the Communist Party (KPL). Party president Ali Ruckert confirmed the Communist Party’s candidacy to the “Luxemburger Wort” two weeks ago. The party was able to secure the support of a member of parliament and was therefore able to forego collecting signatures.
The experienced Ali Ruckert should run again for the communists. The 69-year-old is a journalist and editor-in-chief of the newspaper vum Lëtzebuerger Vollek. Ruckert was already on the list in the 2019 European elections and became his party’s most popular candidate with 4,850 votes. Alain Herman, who also ran for office in 2019, is also back. The 42-year-old is a secondary school teacher and vice president of the party. The two still running on the list are: Dzenana Adrovic (28 years old, administrative secretary), Claudine Muno (52 years old, businesswoman), Edoardo Tiberi (54 years old, lawyer) and Enrique Guerrero (44 years old, architect).

The average age of the list is 48 years. In the 2019 elections, the communists managed to secure around 1.1 percent of the vote in the country. This put them in second to last place, ahead of Déi Konservativ, but behind Volt Lëtzebuerg.
