Committed to Advancing Sports in Aceh, BSI Supports the 21st PON Aceh-North Sumatra 2024

BANDA ACEH – PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) is committed to supporting the Aceh Provincial Government (Pemprov) in encouraging and advancing the sports sector. The implementation of the XXI National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh is a stepping stone in increasing interest and sports achievements in Bumi Serambi Mekah.

BSI President Director Hery Gunardi said, it is an honor for BSI to be a partner of the Aceh Provincial Government and to be a real contribution in supporting the implementation of PON XXI, which is the largest national sporting event awaited by the people of Indonesia, especially the people of Aceh. According to him, BSI is committed to providing optimal financial services for the community, athletes, officials, and tourists present in Aceh during PON XXI.

“BSI has prepared a comprehensive financial services infrastructure to facilitate transactions and provide a sense of security to all BSI service users in Aceh during PON XXI,” said Hery.

BSI has prepared 910 ATMs to support transactions during the largest national sporting event. Of that number, 206 are new ATMs spread across 117 units in Banda Aceh, 54 units in Lhokseumawe, and 35 units in Meulaboh. All BSI ATMs operate 24 hours a day, supporting various banking networks such as Visa, ATM Bersama, Prima, Link, and Plus. This ensures that both the people of Aceh and visitors from outside the region can access banking services easily and quickly.

Not only that, BSI also presents digital payment services based on QRIS and EDC spread across various merchants in Aceh. A total of 45,866 QRIS merchants have been registered, exceeding the target of 45,000 merchants, while EDC machines have been installed at 1,399 merchants.

Hery also said that BSI ensures the availability of cash of more than Rp2.7 trillion in anticipation of a spike in transactions during the event. The availability of cash has been prepared at 16 Branch Offices, 137 Assistant Branch Offices (KCP), and 7 Functional Funding Offices (KFF), ensuring that the community’s cash needs during PON are met.

“In addition to banking infrastructure, BSI also pays attention to the spiritual needs of athletes and visitors. For this reason, BSI has prepared prayer room cars in two main locations, namely Harapan Bangsa Stadium and Blang Padang Field. Eight knock down prayer room units are also placed in various venues such as stadiums, ports, and sports centers,” he explained.

On the same occasion, BSI also established cooperation with the pride of the Acehnese people, namely Persiraja Banda Aceh. Hery said that BSI was very inspired and amazed by the love of the Acehnese people for football, especially the Persiraja club. The Acehnese people, said Hery, always give full support and extraordinary enthusiasm to Persiraja.

“BSI understands that Persiraja is not just a football club, but also a symbol of pride, identity, and fighting spirit of the Acehnese people. Therefore, BSI wants to ensure that Persiraja has all the support to achieve higher achievements and compete again in League 1. We hope that with this support, Persiraja will become a club that is increasingly loved and continues to be the pride of the Acehnese people,” said Hery.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of Aceh Safrizal ZA expressed his gratitude to BSI for playing an active role in making PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra a success. According to him, BSI has paid great attention to the sports sector in Aceh.
