Colombian company achieves certification for the production of free-use phytotherapeutics

The Colombian company Tarkus Pharma Lab became the first in the country to receive certification from Invima with the endorsement of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), with the aim of manufacturing products phytotherapeutics derived from cannabis for free use and with full potential for export.

According to the company, it currently has raw materials derived from cannabis, standardized mixtures and master formulas.

“To achieve this important step in the certification process, we have the investment required for a project of this magnitude with a team of experts in the pharmaceutical industry and a clear vision of the path,” he said. Alejandro Venegas, CEO of Tarkus Pharma Lab.

He highlighted that by obtaining certification, the laboratory is now enabled for the production of finished phytotherapeutic products (ingible products for medicinal purposes from natural origin) for free use.

“With our products we guarantee the patient that they have been produced under the highest quality standards imposed by the national regulatory body and with the correct regulation for ingestible products,” he said.

He stressed that although the export of raw materials does not require certification from Invima, Yes, it is a requirement for the marketing of the final labeled product that reaches consumers.

“With this certification, access would be facilitated for thousands of people with chronic pathologies, so that they can enjoy the benefits offered by Cannabis-based products,” said Venegas.
