Barcelona, Spain (ots/PRNewswire) – The Cloud Native Elite Club (CNEC) hosted a successful seminar entitled “Leap with Cloud Native x AI” at MWC Barcelona 2024. More than 50 industry leaders and experts came together to discuss the latest technology and innovation trends for 2024 explore and share valuable insights and practices on Cloud Native and AI applications.
Seven technological leaps to accelerate intelligence in various industries
Bruno Zhang, Technical Director of Huawei Cloud, emphasized the critical role of cloud native and AI technologies as driving forces for industry transformation in the smart era.
He named seven key technical leaps for intelligent upgrades in various industries:
- Architecture: from a CPU-centric primary/secondary to a heterogeneous peer-to-peer architecture;
- Computing: from general-purpose to AI calculators;
- Storage: from data lake to AI-native storage;
- Convergence of data and AI: from “Data+AI” to “Data4AK/KI4Data”;
- Application development: from full/low/zero code to AI-powered/self-programming;
- Media technology: from filming to data processing and from production to generation;
- Security: from cyber and information security to a zero trust approach
Taylor Dolezal, head of the CNCF ecosystem, emphasized that cloud-native technologies form the backbone of AI infrastructure and have the potential to accelerate industry-wide adoption of AI. “The CNCF has numerous projects used by leading AI companies such as OpenAI that provide the essential technological infrastructure for generative AI,” said Dolezal. “In addition, cloud-native projects such as K8sGPT demonstrate how we can leverage the advanced natural language processing capabilities of the “We can leverage generative AI and the power of Kubernetes to drive innovation in the industry.”
“Cloud computing promotes the innovation and development of AI models,” said Li Wei, deputy director of the Research Institute of Cloud Computing and Big Data at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). “Cloud computing provides a flexible, scalable and efficient support for these models, thereby reducing costs and improving efficiency,” Li said. “It also provides a user-friendly platform for model development, deployment and consumption.”
Ms. Li highlighted the emergence of Large Model Cloud Services as a new paradigm in the cloud computing landscape. She emphasized the importance of setting industry standards. “The cloud services standards framework for large models consists of four levels: infrastructure, models, services and applications. This framework aims to standardize and operationalize Large Model Cloud Service with a well-structured industry system.”
Building a solid cloud foundation for data AI innovation and new data value
The seminar included presentations from Huawei Cloud representatives and various industry leaders who shared innovative practices in various sectors. They provided insights into leveraging cloud technologies to accelerate data AI innovation.
Iñaki Fuentes, Head of Operations at TravelgateX, presented the company’s successful transformation to the cloud with Huawei Cloud. By adopting containers and microservices, they were able to achieve significant improvements: efficiently processing over 6 billion hotel searches per day, reducing cloud costs by 20%, increasing performance by over 35%, and reducing operational complexity.
Li Guo, a Huawei Cloud SRE expert, introduced the deterministic operation solution, a comprehensive approach based on Huawei Cloud’s internal practices. This solution features stability and reliability, efficient resources, robust security and flexible services. Huawei Cloud offers a range of services such as OES, BOS, AMS and IMS, enabling enterprises to improve their O&M capabilities, achieve higher efficiency and quality, and accelerate digital transformation with O&M as the main driver.
Chong Chen, chief architect of Huawei Cloud GaussDB (for MySQL), explained that this service can ensure high reliability and availability across three availability zones (AZs), enabling zero recovery point objective (RPO) and no data loss. Additionally, the entire database system can be scaled up and down in minutes, adding or removing read copies to adapt to changing application loads, without the need for capacity assessment or resource adjustment. Such an architecture is well suited to database needs in the age of AI.
CNEC Global Leap Program: Strengthening industry with technology
The native cloud is becoming the new oil for the global digital economy. More and more companies will build and expand their services in the cloud. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), CAICT and Huawei Cloud recognized this trend and jointly founded the CNEC in 2020. The CNEC aims to address the challenges organizations face when migrating, using and managing the cloud. With currently over 200 core members, the CNEC has built a comprehensive operational system supporting more than 800 technical managers in various industries, including Internet, finance, logistics and automotive. The community has also expanded to Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
William Dong, President of Huawei Cloud Marketing, emphasized the company’s commitment to working with industry organizations such as CNCF and CAICT in the AI era. Through technical communities like CNEC, Huawei Cloud aims to connect companies with the latest global technologies, best practices and industry trends. This initiative enables companies around the world to harness the power of cloud native and AI and ultimately make the leap to data and AI capabilities.
Looking ahead to 2024, CNEC will prioritize the strategic integration of native cloud and AI technologies to accelerate global AI adoption and advancement. During the event, CNEC introduced its Global Leap Program under the theme “Leap with Cloud Native x AI”, which includes comprehensive technical exchanges, in-depth discussions and the presentation of pilot projects.
In addition, Huawei Cloud held a plaque presentation ceremony to establish the European branch of CNEC to better support local organizations. This initiative underscores Huawei Cloud’s commitment to working with customers and partners to accelerate the adoption and advancement of innovative technologies such as cloud native, AI and database solutions in Europe. Ultimately, this collaboration aims to unlock the growth potential in various industries through continuous technological innovation.
