Claudia Sheinbuam meets with elected federal legislators

This Tuesday, the virtual president-elect Claudia Sheinbuam offered a message to the elected federal legislators of Morena and the allied parties, PT and PVEM.

She was accompanied on the stand by Marcelo Ebrard, Mario Delgado, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, Adán Augusto, Ricardo Monreal, Citlalli Hernández, Manuel Velasco and the leaders of the Labor Party and the Green Party.

Delgado was the first to speak, to which he declared “the victory of June 2 is confirmation that the peaceful revolution started by the people of Mexico almost six years ago, in July 2018, that revolution is underway and “It has evolved into people’s consciousness.”

“The 4T is the change of mentality, we live, colleagues, the revolution of the consciences of an extraordinary people to whom we owe all our loyalty, respect and commitment.”

He highlighted that the coalition of Morena, PVEM and PT won seven of nine governorships, reaching 24 in total; ten female rulers of Morena; 27 majorities in local congresses were obtained on June 2, in 10 of those states a full pool of local deputies, federal deputies, and the Senate were won; Victory was obtained in 1,139 town councils, 61% of the total and of course here is the majority of the people, the majority of the Chamber of Deputies and almost that of the Chamber of Senators.

“Our mandate is to govern, with the people, by the people and for the people,” said Sheinbaum. The president-elect pronounced that in July 2018, the people of Mexico “made a wise decision, to leave behind the regime of corruption and privileges, to overcome the old neoliberal model and to begin writing the chapter of the moral economy under the leadership, without a doubt , of the best president of contemporary Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.”

The president-elect reminded the legislators “we fight for causes and we represent causes and we represent the people of Mexico, let us never forget that we have convictions and principles; and what are those causes, guarantee the rights of the people of Mexico, public education, public healthaccess to housing, fair wages, decent employment, the right to a pension when one reaches old age, the right to culture, to waterthe right of women to substantive equality, the right and not the privilege that all Mexican men and women can live a full life without discrimination.”

Our causes are to expand democracy, strengthen freedoms, access to justice, the defense of our sovereignty, our causes are to eradicate all forms of discrimination, the defense and respect for indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples, and sanction all forms of discrimination. “Like all forms of authoritarianism, our cause is to never return to war and to build peace with justice.”
