MEXICO CITY (apro).- The meeting yesterday, Thursday, June 27, was to meet with the governors after the June 2 elections, with the “surprise” of the arrival of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reported the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
In a brief interview upon her arrival at the airport in Mérida, Yucatán, she spoke in general of the meeting held at the Hilton Hotel, on Juárez Avenue, in the center of Mexico City, which, she accepted, she called: “It was a meeting to get together after the victory with the governors, informally. And I invited the president and it was, well, a surprise there for the governors, also for us to all be together.”
The press asked him what the federal president had to say, to which he replied: “Well, we all congratulate each other and are very happy about the victory of the Presidency, the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate. We are a movement.”
Yesterday, upon leaving the meeting, Senator Ricardo Monreal said that he could not reveal what was said there, as there was a “commitment to discretion.” This morning, the federal president said that at the meeting “nothing was raised other than the unity that was also exemplary, and all the confidence we have in Claudia Sheinbaum… We agree that there is governability in the country.”
Hold “public debate” in Parliament
The former head of government of Mexico City was also questioned about the first Open Parliament forum on the reform of the Judicial Branch. She celebrated: “Very well, it is good that everyone participates, that they give their opinions, that it is a public debate.” Regarding the proposal that the election of judges by popular vote be staggered, she only said: “we will discuss that later.”
This Friday afternoon, on the third weekend that she has accompanied President López Obrador on a work tour as virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum will be at the inauguration of Mused, the Edzná site museum in Campeche.
