MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco) and Ticketmaster reached an agreement regarding the class action lawsuit of 434 consumers, who claimed the unilateral cancellation of tickets for various events – by the company – in the period between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023.
Through a statement, Profeco announced the result of the agreement – between the authority and the company – in which consumers will be compensated with a total amount that reaches more than 3.4 million pesos.
Some of the 434 beneficiaries were refunded the full cost of the ticket, plus service charges and a 20% bonus, in accordance with the law; Those who were affected by the cancellation of events resulting from the SARS-COV-2 pandemic were reimbursed only for the cost of the ticket, as it was a global health emergency, which is not attributable to the ticket offices.
Profeco also reported that those consumers who have been affected by the unilateral cancellation of the purchase of tickets sold by Ticketmaster, during the aforementioned period and who have not been refunded, may present documents proving their affectation to the corresponding authority and thus request the benefits of this agreement.

In addition, the Attorney General’s Office announced that, as part of the agreement, Ticketmaster designed and implemented the mobile application “App Ticketmaster MX” for the marketing of tickets, with the objective of “improving the consumer experience” and thus avoiding counterfeiting. duplicity, ticket reselling.
