For nine consecutive days, citizens maintain protests on the outskirts of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) to demand from the magistrates that they know the pretrial raised by the Executive against the fiscal general and head of the Public Ministry (MP), Consuelo Porras.
The members of different organizations installed banners in the area and use loudspeakers to make themselves heard, as they reiterate that they expect the togados to act in accordance with the law and not turn their backs on the citizens.
“What we demand is that the plenary session hears the pretrial against Porras. We as civil society and as the people of Guatemala demand that it be done, that it is not three months, it is three business days, legally, in which they would have to know,” said one of the protesters.

He added that, in his opinion, the magistrates have not acted on the issue because they understand that they are outside and if they rule against the pretrial they will stay in place. “Because this has to advance from here to Congress, where we will also be,” he said.
In his words, this request to withdraw immunity guarantees in a certain way a light at the end of the tunnel of what has been experienced, since perhaps 106 days of resistance against the MP were not enough for the officials of the different entities to work as they should. .
“We will be here until the CSJ hears about the pretrial. For now we are the members of civil society, but the ancestral authorities are also joining in,” she shared.

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Oscar Cruz, referred last Tuesday, March 5, to the follow-up that will be given to the pretrial file promoted by the Executive against the attorney general and head of the Public Ministry (MP), Consuelo Porras, for possible breach of duties.
“I understand that the pre-trial is already in the CSJ Secretariat, the moment to know it will be a full decision, since it must be scheduled. (The issue) is discussed with magistrates to have it on the agenda,” he said.
In addition, he indicated that there is the possibility of holding an extraordinary full meeting in order to find out and make a decision.
