In Venezuela, this year, Christmas will not be on December 25th but brought it forward to the month of October.
By presidential decree, Maduro announced that Christmas was being brought forward to October 1st throughout Venezuela.
The South American country is going through a political crisis after the elections in which Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner.
Since then, the opposition has denounced electoral fraud.
This added to the confiscation of the presidential plane by the United States and the arrest warrant issued against Edmundo González.
Nicolás Maduro referred in a television link to the arrival of September and pointed out that September has arrived and “September already smells like Christmas in Venezuela”
“That is why this year, in tribute to you, I am going to decree the advancement of Christmas to October 1st,” he said.
Maduro added that his decree is in gratitude to the people and that Christmas will begin in October.
“Christmas has arrived, with peace, happiness and security,” he added.
This is not the first time that Maduro has brought forward Christmas. On previous occasions, it was not surrounded by controversy as it is now.
Christmas will be on Tuesday, October 1st in Venezuela
Four months before Christmas, Nicolás Maduro announced the start of the festivities, following the arrest warrant for Edmundo González.
The Prosecutor’s Office requested that an “arrest warrant” be issued against the flag bearer of the opposition coalition, Edmundo González.
This order was requested from a court specializing in terrorist crimes.
He is accused of “allegedly committing crimes of usurpation of functions” and “forging a public document.”
The request was made on Monday, September 2, 2024, after the Prosecutor’s Office summoned González Urrutia on three occasions.
In the midst of all these controversies, Venezuela is getting ready to celebrate Christmas next Tuesday, October 1st.
