[ブラジリア 19日 ロイター] – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira on the 19th in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. Wang welcomed Brazil’s support for the “one China” principle, which defines China and Taiwan as indivisible territories.

He said it is necessary to cooperate to build a multipolar world based on peace and security, and that the two countries should build even closer relationships of trust as trading partners.

Vieira explained that they discussed the situation in Ukraine and the Palestinian autonomous region of Gaza.

Relations between China and Brazil were shaky under the previous Bolsonaro administration, but have improved under the Lula administration. The two countries have agreed to extend visa periods to encourage business travel and tourism.

After the meeting with Vieira, Wang stopped in Fortaleza, in the northeast, to meet with President Lula. However, the details of the meeting were not revealed.
