Extreme Hot Weather . PHOTO/ DAILY
According to China Central Television (CCTV), the average temperature in China in July reached 23.21 degrees Celsius, surpassing the 23.17 degrees Celsius recorded in July 2017.
WAM also reported that all regions experienced higher-than-normal temperatures, with Guizhou and Yunnan provinces recording their highest temperatures in July. Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and Tibet recorded their second-highest temperatures.
Meteorological authorities have warned that the heatwave is expected to continue into August, mainly affecting the central and southeastern regions of the country.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius in some areas, especially in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai.
This extreme heat is associated with the strong influence of subtropical high pressure in the region which has led to the development and intensity of hot weather in Jianghai, Jianghuai, Jiangnan and other areas of China.
