Chilean Rock Day “Francisco Conejera” in Tiltil

Since 2011, Tiltil has continuously celebrated “Chilean Rock Day”, a national festival inspired by Los Jaivas and their musical debut on August 15, 1963 under the name High Bass. It has been a space in which more than 150 local, national and international musical groups have performed, fostering dialogue for the development of the local music scene.

The celebration was named “Chilean Rock Day: Francisco Conejera”who was the precursor of Rock Day in Tiltil, together with the musician Hugo Sagua and the cultural area of ​​the Municipality, thus paying tribute to the deceased musician, cultural manager and journalist.

For this thirteenth version 2024, Claudio Narea (Ex Los Prisioneros) will be in charge of leading the lineup of bands, where groups of musicians from Tiltil were also called to join the lineup of this important meeting that will take place on Saturday, August 17th from 4:00 p.m. in the Agora of the Tiltil Cultural Center.

Los Prisioneros formed in 1983 and quickly became one of the most important bands on the Chilean music scene, thanks to their provocative lyrics and social criticism, combined with an innovative sound. Claudio Narea, along with Jorge González and Miguel Tapia, managed to capture the attention of a generation of young people looking for a voice to express their social and political discontent.

The aim is to revive together the songs that marked an era and became anthems for generations. In addition, this activity will be accompanied by the Tiltil Entrepreneurs Fair. Admission is free.

In addition, from Monday, August 12, the Rock Day exhibition in Tiltil is available in the foyer of the cultural center, along with the screening of “This is Rock” (Made in Chile) Short documentary about the history of Chilean Rock, and the legacy of Francisco Conejera. This documentary tells the experiences of those who were protagonists and foundations of our national rock, all from a perspective of the present provided by different generations of rock musicians. The piece was the winner of the XIX IN-EDIT 2024, International Musical Film and Documentary Festival.

Accompanied by this, the Municipal Corporation of Culture of Tiltil, launched the Training program for Tiltil Musicians. This initiative seeks to strengthen the capacities of local artists in key areas for their professional development. The training includes 5 modules in the areas of Artist Image and Presentation, Business and Formalization, Promotion and Digital Marketing and Musical Production, ending on Wednesday, August 14 with a Masterclass given by Pablo Ilabacaan experienced national artist of projects such as “Chancho en Piedra” and “31 Minutos”.

This project is organized by the Municipal Corporation of Culture of Tiltil, financed by an artistic programming project financed by Codelco Andina in co-execution with Corporación ProTiltil and the Asociación Raíces Propias. In addition, it has funding from the project to Strengthen Local Cultural Management of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage.
