The children of any director of the bank will not be appointed as managing director or chief executive officer in that bank. That is, whoever will be the managing director of the bank, no member of his family can be included in the board of directors of the concerned bank. Not only that, the person who will be the managing director of the bank cannot be engaged in any other business or profession. Besides, he cannot have any business interest in the concerned bank. Similarly, any director of the bank shall not have any association with any institution owned or interested or controlled by him.
On Tuesday (February 27), Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard. It has been said that in order to ensure good governance in the banking sector, it is necessary to appoint a suitable, professionally competent and experienced managing director or chief executive officer. Bank-companies are facing greater challenges in managing and managing business and technical risks than ever before. In such a context, the central bank has issued a new circular.
Bangladesh Bank says that whoever will be the managing director of the bank cannot be convicted by any criminal court. Bangladesh Bank also said that he will be the managing director of the bank, regarding whom there is no adverse observation or comment in any court judgment in any civil or criminal case. He has not been convicted of any violation of rules, regulations or rules of any regulatory authority. He is not associated with the ownership of any company or organization whose registration or license has been canceled or the company or organization has been wound up. He has not been associated as an officer of any company or financial institution whose registration or license has been canceled due to his direct or indirect criminal offences. He has not been removed/dismissed/demoted or discharged from his post while being the chairman or director or officer or employee of any company or organization due to embezzlement, corruption, forgery and moral lapse.
He has not been removed/dismissed/demoted or relieved from his post while holding the position of Chief Executive or Chairman or Director or Officer or any other post of any bank-company or any other financial institution. There is no adverse observation against him in offsite or onsite inspection of Bangladesh Bank.
Bangladesh Bank says that the person who will be the managing director of the bank is not a defaulter for the loan taken from any bank or financial institution. He did not cease payment of the creditor’s dues nor was he exempted from collection by compromise with the creditor. He is not a tax evader. He was never declared bankrupt by the court. He was not involved in any illegal activity while performing his professional duties in bank or financial institution.
