The prices of all types of chicken and beef increase before Eid due to various reasons. Similarly, the price of hilsa increases ahead of Pahela Baisakh. Although the prices of all types of meat and hilsa have increased, there has been no impact on the vegetable market. Different types of vegetables are being sold at the same price as before.

On Monday (April 15), Moghbazar, Malibagh, Shantibagh, Shahjahanpur and Khilgaon areas of the capital were seen.

It has been noticed in these markets that one kg of sweet pumpkin is being sold at Tk 30 to Tk 40, Chichinga at Tk 40 to Tk 50, Bitter gourd at Tk 50 to Tk 60, Dhyads at Tk 40, Patal Tk 50 to Tk 60, Cucumber at Tk 30 to Tk 50, Sajan data at Tk 120, Kankrol is selling at Tk 100 to Tk 120, Dhundal Tk 50 to Tk 60, Eggplant Tk 40 to Tk 60, Tomato Tk 30 to Tk 40, Sim 80 to Tk 100, Kachur Lati is selling at Tk 50 to Tk 80.

Besides, each piece of jali kumara is being sold at 40 taka, gourd at 40 to 50 taka. In the market, red vegetables are being sold at Tk 10 to 12 per wrap (one bundle), Kalmi vegetables at Tk 10, Spinach at Tk 15, Pui vegetables at Tk 25 to Tk 30, Pumpkin vegetables at Tk 30 and Gourd vegetables at Tk 30 to Tk 40.

Vegetable seller Aminul Islam said that the price of vegetables fluctuates from time to time. It goes up or down based on demand and supply. Now the supply of vegetables after Eid is less than the number of buyers. Even before and after Eid, the demand for vegetables is low. Due to these reasons the price of vegetables is low.

However, the market for chicken and beef is still up. In the market, broiler chicken is being sold at 250 to 260 taka per kg, layers are being sold at 380 taka, gold chicken at 380 to 400 taka, domestic chicken at 650 taka. Beef is being sold at Tk 800 and goat meat is being sold between Tk 1100 and Tk 1200.

Discussed with the seller Burham Uddin about increasing the price of chicken. He said that traders have bought chickens at high prices to catch the Eid market. This has had an impact on sales, where prices have also gone up slightly. However, he said that the price of the baby in the next shipment will be lower.

Both demand and price of hilsa have increased. At present, Hilsa is caught less. It also reduced the supply in the market. The sellers said that the price of hilsa is high in the retail market.
