The Chicago PD showrunner confirms the timing of Hailey Upton’s departure in season 11 of the NBC series
We’re just a few days away from watching the first episode of Chicago PD season 11, and fans should brace themselves for what’s to come. It is known that the interpreter of the detective, Tracy Spiridakos, will leave the show with season 11, but not before her character goes through more difficult times than she’s ever experienced before. There has been a lot of anticipation about how this story will be addressed and when the farewell will occur.
However, Chicago PD showrunner Gwen Sigan cleared the air in a recent interview with TVLine allowing viewers to get an idea of when Hailey Upton will be leaving next season. According to her statement, the actress will be released much later than some expected.

Hailey Upton’s story will have a satisfying conclusion according to the Chicago PD showrunner
There’s still a lot of story for Hailey Upton to tell in season 11 of Chicago PD and fans will have the opportunity to enjoy her time on screen during the shortened run of at least 13 episodes that will serve to continue the arc that began when her husband Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) practically abandoned her and went far away from the borders.
Recall that Tracy Spiridakos joined the Intelligence Unit in season 4 of Chicago PD and in the previous episode, fans saw her struggling with her mental health due to Jay Halstead’s departure. And since the future of the couple’s marital relationship is uncertain, Gwen Sigan shared some of the conclusion to Hailey Upton’s story that will be addressed in season 11.
“I think there will be a closure,” he says. “I think we’re going to see Upton deal with a lot of what happened last year with the aftermath and find his way to the other side, and to a better side for his character,” he added, “A better side and healthier, so there will be a closure.”
