Chef Expo 2024 is getting more exciting, there are new categories

JAKARTA – The Indonesia Chef Association (ICA) is again holding a prestigious event, Chef Expo 2024 at Jiexpo Kemayoran on 8 – 11 May 2024.

This event, which is being held for the fifth time, will be enlivened by skilled chefs with culinary backgrounds, both professional chefs, celebrity chefs and self-taught chefs who are favorites of the Indonesian people.

These include Chef Juna, Chef Vindex Tengker, Chef Degan, Chef Yongki Gunawan, chefs of national restaurants and hotels, and alumni of national TV cooking competitions, Mama Rieta and others.

Chef Slamet Jarwanto, Chair of the 2024 Chef Expo Committee, ensures that he will present something different at this fifth event. One of them, there is an additional new category for judging winners.

If in previous years there were only the Chef Of The Year and Life Time Achievement categories, this year the Most Innovated Product And Excellent Service category was added.

“Indonesian Culiner Award, so far we have given chef of the year and life time achievement categories. “But this year we are providing a new category, for culinary support products, so we are opening a new category, namely most innovative product and excellent service,” said Chef Slamet, during a press conference in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Saturday, (4/5/ 2024).

“We give this to several culinary-related products, every year we will select who deserves it,” he said again.

Chef Slamet explained a number of main criteria for the winners of this category. One of them, culinary industry players who really want to contribute to advancing Indonesian culinary delights and must be Indonesian citizens (WNI).

“What is clear is that the most important criteria is that the chef is Indonesian, that is, he must be a native Indonesian, we don’t give it to exact. “Indeed, we provide one main condition,” he said.
