The African-based transitional energy company “Chariot Limited” revealed the results of drilling operations in the OBA-1 well located in the “Dartois” field, which is the second of its kind as part of a campaign to drill two wells in the “Locos Onshore” onshore license in Morocco, a project that the company shares. , as the operator with a 75% stake, and the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Minerals (ONHYM) with a 25% stake.
According to a company report, the OBA-1 well was drilled efficiently and safely, within the specified deadlines and budget, at a depth of 901 metres, penetrating the specified targets in the reservoirs.
The report, a copy of which was obtained by Hespress, added: “Following a detailed evaluation of the well data, including logs, materials extracted from drilling, and quantities of gas, it was confirmed that there are reservoirs within an area with an ore thickness of 200 meters, in accordance with pre-drilling objectives; In addition to identifying an ore zone of 70 meters that is characterized by high resistance, in conjunction with high estimates of the quantities of gas in the drilling silt, which may indicate the presence of a gas layer that does not contain water.”
The same document confirmed that “additional analyzes will be conducted due to drilling operations at the well level, in preparation for the test that will determine the productive capabilities of the well and the size of the potential resources for this discovery.” The well will also be prepared to allow for tests and possible use as a production well, before dismantling the drilling unit.
In this regard, Duncan Wallace, Chariot’s technical director, said: “We are very pleased to announce the success of the drilling operation in the OBA-1 well in the Dartois field, which concluded the Onshore drilling campaign led by Chariot in Morocco,” considering that “These results are a positive indicator regarding the capabilities of the Dartois region.”
Duncan added, in a statement accompanying the company’s statement, that he will now “integrate all the data obtained in the RZK-1 and OBA-1 wells with the data of the three-dimensional seismic studies that the company has, and re-process them with the aim of obtaining a good assessment of the potential resources.” “For the Dartois region, in a way that will enable us to improve the future work program regarding this discovery and its potential impact on productivity in the entire scope of the Locus license.”
The same technical director added: “The first two wells successfully confirmed our geological model for the distribution of reservoirs, so the presence of gas is considered good news for our future activity in exploiting this license.”
It is worth noting that Chariot is a transitional energy group focused on Africa, and is active in three sectors: transitional gas, transitional energy and green hydrogen, and specializes in developing high-value, low-risk gas projects in Morocco, which is a rapidly growing emerging economy, with a path towards… It is clear to quickly commercialize the gas and achieve material revenues as well as significant exploration potential.
