Changed gender and became a girl, but this journey was not easy: Poet Rai

Pakistani singer and actress Shaira Rai has revealed her secret for the first time, admitting that she became a girl after gender reassignment and the journey she had to go through was very painful.

He has described the journey of life as the most difficult while facing the hatred of this society.

Poet Roy said that the things I am going to do with Independent Urdu have never been done before.

He said that some people think that ‘Shaira Roy’s gender is not clear, it is true that I am a transgender woman, it is a fact and I don’t want to hide it.’

‘I am a girl who has changed her gender from male to female. People are afraid not to talk like that, because they’re afraid they’ll be scrutinized.’

She says that ‘I also worry that I get to hear strange comments, I want to tell that my journey was very difficult. This journey of difficulties is still ongoing, it is not easy. That’s why I’ve made my social circle very small.’

He said that unfortunately, according to the mentality set in our Pakistan, if someone tries to be different from others in this way, he is ignored.

‘It’s been disputed or killed to erase it. Sometimes I feel like I’m not even safe.’

She asked, “I want to know from my fans, from Pakistanis, why is this happening?” What made it so that there is so much contempt and criticism.’

‘I am an educated girl with higher education. I knew since I was little, my mother also knew a lot about me.’

Poet Roy says that ‘then I did not adopt it with courage, I did not think that I would go for gender change. I used to look like Feminine, it was the same voice.’

‘I never felt like I had any boyish moves in me, I thought I’d be somewhere in between if I didn’t control my sexuality. People used to throw strange phrases at me, which sounded bad and their tone felt bitter.’

According to her, she could not tell anyone about this pain.

‘Because our home environment was also traditional, it was difficult to share such things openly.’

According to the poet, the family thought that she was trying to be like that on purpose, but she is not. They still don’t believe they are transgender.’

‘I want to speak for those who raise voices. Imagine what they would do if such a child was born in their own home.’

Poet Roy says that ‘seeingly, my life was surrounded by problems, there was always criticism in school and at the same time my family could not accept it.’

She says that her family has not acknowledged her till date. According to him, when someone changes gender, there is no joke behind it, no one wants to make their life a joke, there is a strong reason behind it.

‘I learned one thing my brother taught me and that’s that he who doesn’t want to walk with you doesn’t love you, whether it’s friends or family.’

Poet Roy said: ‘Those who did not want to support left and those who wanted to go are still with us today. People who think that girls like me are committing a great sin by changing gender.’

Stop saying that there is punishment for them, maybe there is someone around you who is not telling the truth because of your fear. In such cases, people commit suicide, as I also tried.’

Poet Roy said that ‘I am working hard today, I have become a singer, I am making a name for myself. Does not do anything dirty or wrong. Appreciate the work I am doing and encourage instead of criticizing. Transgender women should be respected, don’t hurt them by using dirty words.’
