Shakib Al Hasan’s bat has not been smiling since the last season of BPL. Bangladesh’s best all-rounder could not score a run in the first two matches despite going to the World Cup. He scored only 8 runs in the first match against Sri Lanka. In the next match against South Africa, he was dismissed for 3 runs.
Even if he could not bat, the fans were hoping that Shakib could at least compensate by bowling. That didn’t happen either. Could not show the edge of bowling. Beaten in both matches. He bowled 3 overs in the first match but bowled only 1 over in the next match. No wicket.
Many have said that Shakib should retire due to his poor performance in two matches. He should be banned for one match. Former Bangladesh team captain Rakhibul Hasan also asked Shakib to rest for one match.
Shakib will respond to these criticisms in one match today. The left-handed batsman played an unbeaten innings of 64 runs off 46 balls. He hit 9 boundaries with ground-biting shots. Bangladesh also got a challenging capital based on Shakib’s excellent innings. In the end it was a 25 run victory.
Timings are not always favorable to cricketers. It doesn’t take long to get back into Shakib’s rhythm. That is also not unknown to teammate Mushfiqur Rahim.
Which is why Mushfiqur was just looking for an opportunity to respond to the criticism Mushfiqur has seen from teammate Shakib in the past few days. Today he got that opportunity. He said that champion cricketers like Shakib should never be underestimated.
After Shakib’s fifty, Mushfiqur posted a post on his verified Facebook page on social media.
Mushfiqur wrote in the post, ‘Never underestimate a champion. Shakib, you played well. Congratulations to Bangladesh for a great win. Alhamdulillah.’
