He National Institute of Statistics (INE) has officially announced the “suspension of census work in the field this weekend” in several communes of the Bío Bío Region, including Cañete, Tirúa, Contulmo, Los Álamos, and the southern area of Curanilahue. This measure responds to “attack that this morning ended the lives of three police officers” in the province of Arauco.
The INE has extended “his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the Institution,” thanking the support of Carabineros de Chile in the census work. The safety of all those involved is a priority, and the Institute assures that the necessary precautions will be taken to protect staff and collaborators at this delicate moment.
