It is towards the New Year’s Eve celebration that the eyes of all Malagasy people are currently turned. They are determined to spend this end of year as best as possible. They have left behind them the adventures of the presidential election and they aspire to calm and serenity. The President of the Republic set an example by making unifying remarks. The opposition has, for the moment, buried the hatchet and is making conciliatory remarks. She is in unison with the entire political class, who believe that we must prepare for the future in a reasoned manner and act without slipping up.
Holiday celebration end of year in unison
The Christmas weekend showed that the population needs respite. Difficulties are always present, but she wants to live in a festive atmosphere. The majority of Tananarivians went to worship in temples and churches, but they marveled at the spectacle of the multiple illuminations which lit up the capital. They invaded the streets and set up in improvised restaurants on the sidewalks. The Ambohitsorohitra palace was the meeting place for many families who were welcomed there by the presidential family. This is one of the images that marked last weekend and which shows that the Christmas truce is not an illusion. The opposition leaders agreed and wished the Malagasy people to spend the end of year holidays in peace and serenity. However, this did not prevent some of them from looking into the future and talking about the upcoming deadlines. They recalled the realities that exist and which they will have to confront. However, for the moment, it is the preparation for the New Year’s Eve party that is on everyone’s mind. The Malagasy people, whatever their conditions, want to live fully the last days of this year 2023.
