“Castro, the Beast of Birán” is exhibited in Miami this Friday

AREQUIPA, Peru – An exhibition by Cuban artist Alexey Camilo Meriño Téllez will be on display next Friday, June 28 at the Galin2 Art Gallery, located at 1067 SW 8 ST in Miami, Florida.

The exhibition is part of the event “Fuego contra el Fuego” (Fire against Fire), announced by the community organization Jóvenes de la Resistencia JAR, through its Instagram page. The exhibition will display a series of works entitled Castro, the beast of Birán (Part 1).

As part of the event, attendees will also be able to enjoy other cultural activities such as the space Onmi Poetrystarring Luis Eligio Omni.

For his part, the urban artist Kamankola will share his music live that night. Likewise, the book will be sold The Black Prince, written by former political prisoner Ignacio Cuesta Valle, known as Piche.

“Piche is the man alive who has served the longest time as a political prisoner, 29 years and 10 months. During his prison sentence, he wrote five books, of which four were destroyed by the Cuban regime,” notes a JAR publication.

“Fuego contra fuego” opened to the public on June 21, with the participation of artists such as Funky and Ras Sandino.

As part of the opening of the event, other recognized members of the Cuban community attended, such as Angel Pardo, president of the Historical Political Prison of Miami and author of Cuba Memoirs of a Political Prisoner; Luis Eligio Omni; Kamankola; Kiel; Spanglish Generation; Lexter; Legacy; and Raudel Escuadrón.
